1. IFCE has launched a pilot project to control urban smog in xuzhou by "dehumidifying and dewhitening"

Xuzhou city government adopted the suggestions of IFCE experts, and introduce theCity government offices on accelerating the city's comprehensive control of coal-fired flue gas power generation enterprise noticeand other relevant documents, With Xuzhou formally on air environmental protection, xuzhou city government invited IFCE experts as technical advisers formally in Xuzhou, experts and Xuzhou city government has carried out four months together the haze of regulation project.
The dehumidification and debleaching project is already under way at more than 10 power plants, most of which could be completed by the end of July. Xuzhou will be the first city in China to adopt "dehumidification and dewhitening" as the main means of haze control.
2. Dr. Ping He Launched Speech on “The Fundamental Cause of China’s Smog Issue” in Steel and Iron Industry Convention
Dr. Ping He, the President of the International Fund for China’s Environment (IFCE), spoke during the “2018 Steel and Iron Industry Technology Convention ” in Handan’s Wu’an County that is located in Hebei Province on May 29th. He introduced the treatment for China’s smog issue and the process of Wet Flue Gas Desulfurization (WFGD). He also explained the “new environmental rules of the steel and iron industry in the present day dynamics”.
|Focusing on present environmental issues, Dr. Ping He brought up three suggestions for the steel and iron industry.|
Firstly, Ping suggested to follow strict and comprehensive regulations in environmental governance to reduce redundancy and waste in terms of cutting down emission, etc.
Secondly, he suggested to adopt technology plans that are low-cost and effective while encouraging the use of innovative technology. Most innovative technologies are either low-cost or very effective.
Thirdly, he urged attention in the thorough use of resources and waste recycling. Waste water, waste gas and waste residue from steel factories may be recycled and used to produce new products. At present, large amount of exhaust gas is discharged from steel plants, which not only pollutes the environment but also generate energy wastes. Since recycling can reduce the extent of the pollution management and create economic benefits at the same time, great attention should be granted to sustainable technologies to protect the environment.
The conference was hosted by the Metallurgical International Cooperation Service Center of China Association of Plant Engineering. Up to more than a hundred representatives and experts from the steel and iron industry and environmental industry attended the conference and communicated major problems related to low emission and smog treatment and their solution strategies.
3. Dr. Ping He and Secretary General Chu Kaiyun Meet with Deputy Director of United Front Department Tan Tianxing

6. Application Opens For 2018 IFCE"Green Future Leadership" Summer Camp
In 2015, International Fund for China’s Environment (IFCE) launched its first “Green Future Leadership Training Camp”. In the past two years, the camp had brought students around the world from different universities (Renmin University of China, Peking University, etc.) and academic fields together for leadership training. In this year’s “Green Future Leadership” summer camp, despite the activities we have done in the past two years, we are going to provide enriched activities including visits to government agencies, Think Tanks, and headquarters of international organizations. Moreover, we are inviting experts from high-rank universities and government agencies to talk with our students about their personal experience.
This summer camp aims to inspire a sense of innovation and provide young people who are interested in leading and promoting China’s green development with brand new skill training and networking opportunities.
